Cotswold Open Studios: Hidden Treasures 2011
Explore the hidden treasures on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th June,
9.30am-5pm each day

June is the month to enjoy the visual arts in Gloucestershire. Cotswold Open Studios is a new artist-led initiative with 19 exhibitors (at 16 venues) around Cirencester. The Arts and Crafts movement is as alive today as it was in the 19th century. These ‘hidden treasures’, from textile specialists to master craftspeople and from artists and printmakers to sculptors, will be throwing open their doors for just one weekend. This is a great opportunity to see a working studio; to meet and talk to artists and designers; to watch them at work; and to find out about what they do. Many of the venues are in stunning locations with beautiful gardens.

The line-up includes for Cirencester includes: Joanna Walker and Stephanie Cushing (Preston), Paul Spriggs (South Cerney), Richard Kenton Webb (Siddington), Dorothy Reglar, Loco Glass, Katherine O’Connell, Daniella Wilson-Dunn (New Brewery Arts), Corinne Renow-Clarke (North Cerney), David and Ali Thistlethwaite (Woodmancote), Vanessa Arbuthnott (Calmsden), Tin Odescalchi and Karen Camkin, Hugh and Sophie Blackwell, Kitty Garland (Chedworth), Donald Cordery (Compton Abdale), and Jude McKenna (Ampney St Mary).

This year, art lovers will be treated to a magical mystery tour on the Alex Cars vintage bus on Saturday 25th June. There are twenty seven seats available on ‘Old Babs’, the beautiful 1950s Bedford bus. Tickets are just £15 from the Cirencester Visitor Information Office at the Corinium Museum on 01285 654180. This will make a wonderful day out, with a short stop for lunch.

‘I have really enjoyed digging up all of the hidden treasures around Cirencester. The vintage bus ride is a must for all culture vultures wanting to travel in style,’ says Tessa Webb, Director.

There is also an opportunity to enter a grand draw. You could be one of 10 lucky people to win a specially-commissioned signed limited edition print of Cirencester by Richard Kenton Webb. You will need to fill in the tear-off slip in the brochure about the event and leave it at one of the venues (1-15 only) over the weekend to be entered.
